Stagestep works with CMG Flooring as our official floor installer. They have hundreds of Stagestep installations completed over the past decade and they guarantee their work.

Stagestep offers flooring that is designed to be installed over a concrete floor without the use of a subfloor. Dancestep Plus, Woodstep Plus, Balletdanse Plus, Woodstep Ultra are multipurpose dance floors that have a foam backing and an exceptionally realistic wood design.

These can be installed temporarily, semi-permanently, or permanently over a concrete or hardwood floor. The concrete floor must be sealed against moisture before installing any floor. However, we do recommend subfloors, and here’s why.

Marley offers controlled slip, versatility, and low maintenance: ideal for most styles. Hardwood provides a natural feel for tap, Irish, flamenco, and ballroom but must be paired with a floating wood subfloor.

For studios on concrete, shock-absorbing Marley “Plus” floors are a safer alternative. Learn more about hardwood vs Marley vinyl.

A floating wood subfloor (sprung subfloor) creates air space between the surface and concrete, reducing impact and preventing injuries like shin splints and joint pain.

Unlike raised floors, it never makes direct contact with concrete. It’s essential for safe training. Learn more about our subfloors.

Costs depend on the floor type, whether you need a subfloor, and your studio size. Marley ranges from about $2.50–$14.50/sq ft, while subfloors run $3.50–$14/sq ft.
